Me & Mine
Branding
Creative Classes for Parents
Date
March 2022
With the words Iktsuarpok (frustration of waiting), health and fitness and the audience of breadlines I created a brand identity for an imaginary creative class aimed at working parents who are frustrated and in need of a creative outlet for their mental health. With the aim of creating a space for guilt free fun and connection with other busy parents. There is childcare included with just as enriching activities so that the parents can have peace of mind that their children are happy and just in the other room. The brand aims to interrupt their day and remind them that their sanity and individual identity is still important and should be nurtured in the same way they nurture their children.
Tool Kit: Me and Mine
Bold colour palette, simple illustrative imagery, and unique display typography. All soft and playful to convey the creative, imperfect, and relaxed nature of the classes and the wider idea of parenting itself.
Touchpoints: Posters
A series of posters each one with a different phrase to grab the attention of busy parents on their daily commute. The illustration also reflects the idea of Kintsugi, a Japanese technique that repairs broken ceramics with gold. Highlighting the life and imperfection of the object which is a sentiment for the parents to remember their lives as individuals. With a clarifying line and a website/QR code to find out more information.
Touchpoints: Instagram Advert
An Instagram ad campaign to promote the classes and the range available. With a simple stop motion animation to catch their eye. And a stop motion animation imitating the way the pottery wheel would spin, highlighting the doing not the done. Focused on the escape and experience of making not the final product.
Touchpoints: Apron/Name tags/Tote bags
A design for aprons that would be used in the classes that imitate the way brushes and sculpting tools would fit in the pockets. Then name tags to encourage them to start conversations and find a community of likeminded parents. Series of tote bag designs using the pottery shapes to imitate the pottery being taken home in the bags, propped at the bottom.
